Sanding and Sanding, and Sanding and Painting

When I bought my xj there was some rust on the roof. The guy who sold it to me had a "friend" in the painting bidness that owed him some money, so he commissioned him to paint the roof. He thought bedliner would be a good idea, which would have been okay with the roof rack and all...... IF THE FREAKIN GUY WOULD HAVE PREPPED IT BEFORE HE DID IT!!! So today I begin the process of sanding all that chit off and doing it right.

I'm SO SORRY for you!

Can you scrape it off? Maybe a razor scraper and a light touch with a heatgun?
That stuff will really clog up some sandpaper.

Take pics!

just out of curiousity, i wonder how a wire wheel on a grinder would do, or maybe even the sanding pads for grinders?

Tape and mask the sides. spray with Aircraft remover...(do this with LOTS of ventilation or you will die/wish you were dead).

If aircraft remover won't remove it then its not really there.

NOTE: don't necessarily have to use aircraft remover, I just like the name. but I'd definitely look for a chemical way of doing this. I'm much too lazy to try to sand that crap off.

Or media blast it.
