scanguage II

im interested in getting this:

http://www.scangauge.com/

Scanguage II

id love to know just where i need to be driving at to get the best MPG's
also there are a TON of other readouts.

seems small enough that i can switch out and put in my other vehicles easily, and not have it be an eyesore once installed.

the $169.00 price tag seems like a good deal for what its worth. ive also seen it got for $159.00 + free shipping on multiple ebay sites.

anyone own this? pros / cons ?

Ive got one. Its great, I now no longer trust my dash, and am wondering about my oil pressure. My temp gauge never topped 210 but the scan gauge read 230 the other day. Coolant flush did the trick.
Its a great piece of equipment, not to mention the real time fuel use, GPH, and all the other great stuff. And itll read the soft codes that you cant pull from the key on key off thing. I just wish it had an oil pressure readout. I love the thing, and it has saved me a ton of $$.

ct-tj :

i read something about them not being too accurate. and also something about having to calibrate it. do you feel yours is truly accurate? and how did you go about calibrating it? (id need be)

Save your money it's not rocket science. Keep your rpm's (shift points) at or below 2500 and your speed below 65 and your tire pressure correct. Don't rabbit off a start and you'll have the best mileage you can. Too many drivers today are looking at phones, ipods, gauges... just drive.

Mine is +-1mph GPS varified. I have no idea on how to recalibrate it. I mainly use it to clear codes, keep an eye on my temp, and as a constant reminder to keep out of the throttle. Its saved me some cash and kept me from replacing a head gasket because I didnt even know that she was overheating. I think it was worth the cash. Oh and you can use it on multiple vehicles.

Oh, I just reread the post. When you plug in the OBDII connector itll ask you your engine size. Other than that its all personal preference, what gauges you want displayed, units, colors, stuff like that.

All it is is a more advanced OBDII scanner, where handheld acctrons generally only give you codes and allow it clear them the scangauge is more like the acctron + the overhead console features, all those outputs are available.
If you really want interesting plug in the Chrylser scan tool, WOW, the stuff that access's is involved and changes you can make. It's one of those tools that when you first borrow one you spend about 2 hours just drilling down thru the menus.
