Securing a winch

Installed the Warn MD8000, Warn Install kit, and Warn Rock Crawler bumper this evening. As I was admiring my handiwork, it crossed my mind, "What keeps some AH with a set of wrenched from lifting my winch?

Is it time to weld a couple of the nuts or ????

Colt .45?
I dunno, I was worrying about that the other day, I had just gotten in the yard about 3 am and was putting my trailers away when I noticed a couple young guys in another JEEP pull in next to mine, as soon as they saw me in the yard they took off so I'm sure they were up to no good.

Arguing with a truck driver is like wrestling with a pig in mud, eventually you realize the pig enjoys it.

i always weld a little point at the screws thread to avoid some AH from robbing things from my car. on that way it is more difficult to remove the screw nuts.

well you could tack weld the bolt but that may weaken the metal. Weld something over the bolts. For example mine has the tow hooks on top of the winch plate so you could weld a metal box of some kind over those.

I had similar concerns as well.. i just installed a Rugged Ridge RRC bumper and new Milemarker winch.

I was thinking about locking the winch cable to the frame or bumper support. Spool out a couple of feet and lock the cable loop to the underside of the bumper support.

I haver not tried this yet....only pondered after a few cold ones.

It ain't no fun unless you get some of it on you.
