shackles

is there any advantage to moving the shackle from in front of the front axle to behind it? i plan to make some new shackles for my cj3a and i was wondering if a straight or curved shackle would be better.

it allows for better articulation because now instead of the spring having to flex forward it can flex backward. It will dramatically increase bump steer on road though.
