shopping list

My 05 Tj has 3:07 gears and well... They suck. I recently went to 33's from 33's. Now i'm thinking about bitting the bullet for a regear. I know nothing about regearing. So what needs to be on my shopping list of parts? I'll have a friend who is a pro do the work just need to know what parts i'll need so I can start bargin shopping.

You'll need new carriers to support the gears because of the gear change at 3.73(I believe) and numerically higher gears, depending on the ratio you want. You need an install kit (bearings and seals) and the gear set you want.

Carrier are what hold the spider gears or locker or limited slip along with the ring gear being attached. Being that you have 3.07's (like me) if you are going to install gears that have a higher number than 3.73, you'll need a new carrier. I'm not sure on the reason, I just know that it's needed.

Carrier for 3.55 and up = ~$200 (front & rear)
Gears = ~$400 (front & rear)
Overhaul (install) kit = ~$300 (front & rear)

So you're looking about a grand just for parts.

Both front and rear

You do know that you need to both front and rear right ? I looked at having both of mine gone through, the estimate was $1700
