should I trade my jeep

a friend wants to trade me his 92 3.0 toyota truck for my 97 tj

my jeep is a 1997 4cyl 5speed
new rc 4" lift new 33x10.50 km2

his is a 1992 toyota 3.0 v6 pickup engine knocks
this is what all has been done to his

solid axle
kuckles cut and rotated
dual t-cases 4:1 in one
newer centerforce clutch
4:88 with lock rights front and rear
bobby longfields front and rear axles
high steer
5 good 38" tsl's
skid plates
more

body not that great but ok

at this point the kind of wheeling I want to do im going to just have a decated off road only truck. Im thinking trade and get a used engine and go. it's going to take alot of $$ to get my jeep where his all ready is.

Im not asking jeep vs toyota if you was in my shoes with limited funds what would you do?

Many "friendships" have been lost over trades, loans, etc.
Why does he want to trade with you??
You are the only one that can answer these questions.
Just offering a little fatherly advice for you to use in the decision making process.

IMO I wouldn't do it.....unless you don't plan to wheel the rig very long. There is a lot more aftermarket/ Jeep parts support for your TJ....and while there may be SOME for his truck now......I don't think it will ever be as strong as the support for the Jeep. This also factors into the cost of things....the more parts a company sells the less they have to get for them to still turn a profit. How many Jeeps are there, how many trucks are there doing this?

?????

You're on a JEEP forum asking about trading a 97 Jeep for a 92 Toyota? Nobody biased here.

Yes, you should certainly trade your running , $5000 Jeep for a 20 year old beat up truck that needs an engine.

That being said, I just got a killer deal on a 80's Yugo for $1000, and invested in cemetary that's being converted to a golf course.
And I traded my 65 Mustang for aa great set of golf clubs.

Sarcasm aside, wheel your Jeep as is until you can get it where you want it.

DO NOT get a Toyota with a 3.0L V6. it's a ticking time bomb. I had one it blew 4 head gaskets in 10 years. Dealer replaced the first 2 gaskets, the next two were on me. the entire engine needs to be torn down, 40 hours of labor, machine the heads, all new sensors, belts, gaskets, head bolts are 1 time use .looking at 2 grand minimum to fix each and every time it blows up.

Search 3VZE V6 on any 4x4 forum and you'll quickly find everyone hates them.
Stick with the 22R or the newer 3.4L v6.

here's mine after blown headgasket chocolate milkshake oil #4...

Sounds like your buddy is getting the better end of the trade. I wouldn't do it.
