I carry a shorty. T-handle, fiberglass shaft, metal shovel bit. For me it happens to work with my Overhead rack where I carry it and a 3/4 axe. Something is better than nothing.

I keep a shorty on my Jeep too . . . the shovel part is decent sized. I added a braket onto my RockHard tire carrier and keep it there . . . I think it's been on there for a year and a half now . . . used it once to put out a camp fire . . . haven't needed it on the trail . . . do more rock stacking vs. digging out here in So Cal, but it's still nice to have just in case.

this is an older pic, but as soon as I'm back in Nevada, I'll put the shovel back on my new front bumper-using "Quickfists"

A E-tool is better than nothing
I like the shorties with a full size
blade
Just carry it on the trail or
if playing in the snow
they really dont take up much room

Those fold-able shovels don't give me the leverage I need. Here's where I mounted my shovel. It's for the most part it's hidden and out of the way.
