While at Toys-R-Us yesterday picking up the sisters birthday presents for next weekend, I came out and noticed an FJ pulling up beside my JKU, and the guy gets out with his kids, and his kids start looking at my jeep, and the oldest (I'm assuming, due to height differences) looks to his dad and says "Dad, you should have got one of these!!" The dad then looks up, and see's me opening the gate with a massive shit eating grin on my face, and he shakes his head and mutters "Yep.. I know..."

Never considered the back door only issue. I doubt that was an inentional design point, but having kids, I do run with only the back on occasionally, so I'll take it
except the power door lock actuators and buttons are on the door. Also, the window regulators are in the door, so the harness is going to be the same either way.

Normally you have controls for all the windows on the drivers door. That's at least 6 more wires, 3 up, 3 down...

I don't think there's a 1-1 correspondence between switches and wires with the CANbus system, but I could be wrong. Everything goes through the computer. For instance, all the steering wheel buttons are merged into a single level-sensitive wire output.

I said exactly the same thing about the window control! My boyfriend instantly was like why would you need to roll windows down when you have no doors?....felt pretty stupid, good to know someone else thought the same thing I did

lol, reminds me of runnin' w/o top or doors and walking into the store. Stopping about ten feet out to tell my wife she forgot to lock her door and watch her scramble back for a second

I tried to tell this to my boss..... He still ended up getting FJ about a month ago....he'll learn when he seems me pull into the parking lot topless and doorless while he does not even have a sunroof.

--------------------------

My wife is due in less than a month...but she already enjoys riding naked. We get a lot of odd looks when she hops out...but getting in an out is much easier for her now considering that there isnt't a door in the way.

Hubby to me: Why didn't you order it the way you wanted it instead of buying all these extra things for it? Are you almost done?

This car pulls up to me at a stoplight, opens their window and asks what happened to my doors? I said the factory set I couldn't afford and the aftermarket ones fell off (I got the ideas for my response from this thread- thanks for the laugh). She said really, and I nodded.

I gave the same answer "I couldn't afford it.." While driving no doors or top with my 5 and 4 year old in the back. My 5 year old responded "he's just kidding!" After I gave my response.

I think she wouldn't of believed me.

Okay...I'm on my way home from work yesterday and a guy pulls up beside me in a Suburban: "Is it lifted?"
I reply, yup, two inches. He gives me the thumbs up, says "looks good" and drives away.
Not so silly, except for the fact that it's not somebody I know and it happened at 40 MPH on Interstate 270 during rush hour!

First off, where do you all live??? Here in Colorado, there's so many Jeeps around that it seems everyone knows about them.

A few stories. I had a '94 soft top. Was on a first date with a girl (blonde), and I had the windows off, but the top still on. Half doors were on, as it was chilly. We got out, and she asked me if I wanted her to lock it. Because you couldn't just reach in the back windows!

I also had a prius for a while. We got stuck in 4 inches of snow on I-70 eastbound between Idaho Springs and Denver. It would not go up the slick hills.

Just drove through Colorado a couple days ago. The percentage of jeeps in the population of vehicles seemed the same as back home in michigan. Sure, there's a lot of them, but same back home. There's also alot of escalades and priuses and ford exploders and f150s and......

you're always gonna find someone who doesn't know a jeep from their foot....

that said i really dont understand some of these posts. How can people be that stupid?

I used to drive a hyundai santa fe. People called it a jeep all the time. I'm like uhm.......this is not a jeep. jeeps are cooler.....

they never called it a hummer though, thank god.....

Also, it seems like everyone i encounter who thinks they knows about jeeps doesnt know anything. I had a friend seriously tell me to not ever regear above 4.10. So basically transmission gearing has nothing to do with anything, right? WTF? I'm still fairly sure i'm going to go with 4.88s.

Clarification-he owned a JK that i found for him-still doesn' "know" what a Jeep is!

PS-we are on #11, with 3 in the stable. Plenty here in FL, but most are mudders. Headed West next week-Silverton, Moab, etc.
