Not so much a Jeep comment as it is a story.....

Walking out of Walgreens (in a plaza), I place my merchandise in the back and am getting in. Some guy (mid 30s) is getting into his Prius and proceeds to say "I don't understand why on earth anyone in their right mind needs one of those monstrosities." Before I respond, the guy gets into his hippie mobile and slams the door. He pulls out of the space, and I follow. We are waiting to exit the plaza, and Im right behind him. When he exits, he cuts it too tight, and falls off a 10" curb. Slams his front end, cracked his control arm and his passenger front tire was doing a back to the future....one of these....

He gets out, all pissy....I pull out of the lot, roll down my window and say " and THAT is why someone needs one of these monstrosities." Made my day.

It was like a George Costanza moment when he thought about the jerk store line.

Guess the funniest so far for me (Which pales in comparison to some I've heard on here) was when I was at the car wash & watched someone actually look for the power window button.... I have half doors! Gave me a good laugh when I had to explain they zipped up!

I doubt they are made up. At least the majority of them are probably true.

My (late) step-dad: "If you read Consumer's Report, you would not have bought that thing. You're throwing money away again."

Some ass-hat to my ex-girlfriend: "Don't date guys with Jeeps, they're bad on gas, they roll over and you can't race them." (I assume he meant the jeep). I told him I can think of several ways I can beat him, some of them are even races.

Co-workers: "So, what do you drive in the winter?"

And many other small, stupid things that people say but there are many, many more cool things that I hear or see people do when they talk Jeep or walk by it and nod approvingly.

I'm kind of amazed at the stories where strangers are openly rude about your Jeeps. Wow. Well, when mine arrives in a couple of weeks, maybe I'll be able to add to the thread. I already anticipate that I'll hear it from the "why do you need THAT?" crowd.

Ask him to follow you on the trail. I am sure you know of one that will get him hung up, sunk or just plain stuck. Then you can laugh your ass off as you pull him out telling him "Ya, your truck can go any place my Jeep does as long as I am there to drag you along"

It's the opposite for me! Everyone loves my jeep I've had random stranger come up to my window while I'm driving and say nice ride man! Lots of people ask me how I like it cause they are thinking of getting one. How ever up north they're probably seen to be more practical maybe?

Just tell them that it's the most fuel efficient vehicle that's capable of running over tree hugging hippies little toy cars.

I do get tired of hearing the mini Hummer comments... Actually the JKU is about the same length as a Subaru.

HAHAHA! Scary that it was the husband that preferred a minivan over a Jeep!

Ever since I got mine when I'm hanging out with a certain friend of mine I'll point out a hummer and tell him to check out that Jeep.

I'm with you. I receive nothing but compliments or questions from people that would consider one.

In over 30 years of driving I have never had anyone say anything rude about what I was driving.

Now that may change since my DD company provided vehicle is going to be a Prius. Even then I am such a tech geek that I am looking forward to giving one an extended test drive.

A little off topic but goes well with "stupid questions". In the early 2000's I was flying into Seattle moments after a pretty strong Earthquake hit. We landed with no problems but the Tower and Terminal had suffered some damage. When I returned home and told a few friends (early 40's) age group. One asked me with a straight face "could you feel the earthquake in the air before you landed" ? There was an awkward hush that fell over the room as I stood there and didn't know how the hell to answer it.
