I remember someone have this quote in their signature:

The other day on the way to work, I beat a v-6 Mustang in my 13JKU from a stoplight where it merges into one lane. The Mustang started wheezing when my JKU was still accelerating and overtook him. With a Pentastar it's a reasonably fast brick! Not a lip reader, but I don't think the things this guys was saying were "silly".

FYI: I have rented Mustangs on two different occasions and I've come to believe that they are completely gutless. They sound like they've got plenty of power, but stomp on the gas and it's disappointing to say the least. I'm guessing they are intentionally detuned because of a concern about people renting them and abusing them.

The mustang comes in a few trim packages that have no balls whatsoever. However, there are others, like the Shelby, that are sick as hell.

It's also borderline criminal to leave a new mustang bone-stock... kinda like a jeep.

I would never want own a base model mustang... yuck

I'm riding on 35s with 3.21 gears so I definitely don't have much off the line. Once I get regeared to 4.56, I might find him and take him up on his offer.

4.56s won't give you much added quickness off the line with 35's. For that, you'll need 4.88s or 5.13s.

4.56's will simply make it drive like a stock Rubicon with 32's and 4.10 gears.

If you want it to feel more powerful and move off the line quicker than stock, you'll have to go deeper than 4.56...

I should have been clearer - I think rental Mustangs are completely gutless (and I posit that it is intentional not accidental). I don't have a strong opinion about general purchased Mustangs or about modded ones.

It's possible that Bbannongmu was next to someone in a rented or base model one, and the other driver was thinking "it sounds like it's got lots of get up and go, so I know I can beat that Jeep" - and annoyed not at the Bbannongmu but at himself/his Mustang.

I have an Aussie locker. While driving through Jeep dealerships for service, have had several salesmen run to me to let me know there's a clicking when I turn.

When you're building a drag car, what's one cheap way to increase performance? Put in a tall rear end!

If you want a jeep to have real rock climbing ability, what do you do? Put in a tall rear end?

We may not have the horsepower, but we are geared to get off the line quickly.

Ha, this was back in Southern York County, my hometown, visiting my parents. Plenty of cornfields in Shrewsbury, Glen Rock, and New Freedom!

I thought you guys were full of it, but I got it today. Picked up my buddy and his girlfriend for lunch. She gets in and says "Oh wow! This is nice! Is this one of those mini hummers?"

Probably. But I think he was mad at me and the cars behind me too since he was trying to cut in line and we all blocked him. BTW not hatin on stangs just surprised at the lack of get up a go from the v-6 and more than a little proud that my Jeep had more get up and go.

Yesterday in a restaurant parking lot some guy told me I had a "nice looking Ranger". Perhaps the fact he was drunk at 11:30am had something to do with that comment, but I'm still confused.

Out of the 2 months I had my JKU people say
"You should have got a 7.3 F250" (he only has one so he can blow smoke)
"My WRX is better than your Jeep offroad"
"Don't Hummers get bad gas mileage?"
"Girls don't like Jeeps" (same person that said I should have got a F250)
And the worst "That's an ugly color" (my JKU is crush orange.... he must have just been jealous)

People say:
Why did or would you get a manual transmission in your jeep?

I say:
if I got it with an automatic transmission, I might as well paint it pink and write "Barbie" on the side!

Actually, the new automatics give you the best of both worlds with fully automatic or the option to shift manually should you desire. Driving a stick where I live is the biggest pain in the butt of all time. Not very enjoyable...that being said, I can (and have) used the manual shifting option several times when I felt like it.

Offroad, I definitely prefer the automatic. No contest.

Well, automatics definitely make wheeling easier... if that's your thing. :P

My 2010 was auto, but I had to switch back to manual on my 2013...

I used to think: Why in the world would you buy an automatic Jeep?

Then I went wheeling... Now I wish I had gotten an auto.

Never had any problems wheeling my TJ with a manual and it's the first vehicle I've ever had.

That was me, but pushing 50 and my wife convinced me I should go with an automatic. Not bad off road like I thought it might be, but after all the years of driving a standard occasionally my left foot is looking for the clutch.

Big y parking lot. I was chalking my tires. Lady steps out of her car and says "are you giving your truck a manicure"
Thought that was funny.

My mom said I don't have a Wrangler. I said I did, she said I didn't. Went on for a while until I realized she thought it was a "Badger". That's my jeeps name, as written on the hood. This is my seventh jeep, in over twenty years. I'd have thought she would know better by now.

My wife was complaining about no mirror also. So I bought one from Walmart and stuck it on for her.
