Nope ... Where I went was legit open trail - Red Ridge. Only way to check on gun club cabins on the other side of the mountain.

Yeah.....I was leaving work yesterday when this truck driver comes up to me (doors off and approachable) and tells me how much he likes my jeep and how cool it is. Then.... He says something like "yeah like remember old school? Like the Samurais?". I sat there blinking for about thirty seconds unable to speak. I even threw up a little in my mouth. Quite possibly the most offensive thing ever said to me.
It's not like I'm even stock (not that it matters)

They decided to start walking up and down the road trying to convince everyone with large vehicles (which was almost everyone) that we should get rid of our large vehicles and buy small Eco vehicles. When I asked her how would I transport my 3 kids and wife 2000 miles in comfort her response was your comfort shouldn't be important rather I should be concerned with the comfort of the earth. I politely (cause of the kids) told her that when traffic starts moving she should move her ignorant a** out of the way cause the 5.7 liter V8 likes to eat hybrids. My wife had to calm me down and remind me we were on vacation. Not to put all hybrid owners in a category but It seems like its always that way. Now back on topic.....
Hahaha that's funny ! I always put hybrid owners as the butt of my joke... But this year I made my daily driver a 2014 ford fusion hybrid. It definitely depends on the owner. Because on the weekends I'm rolling in a tj or me and my old man take his raptor off road. I went with the hybrid purely for mpg

I just picked up my 08 Wrangler and mentioned putting a modest 2-3 inch lift to a friend. He replied " don't lift it that will ruin it!"

"It" may be referring to the ride, which can be true if you get cheap shocks or unnecessarily stiff springs. If you look around here people will recommend people to talk to that will set you up right and maybe even have a better ride than stock.

A (girl) friend of mine came into my store this morning and I told her how my Jeep that I ordered nearly 7 weeks ago should be here sometime this week.

She asked "What did you order?"

I replied "A 2014 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon"

She goes "What's a Rubicon? Is that the one with the bikini top?"

I say "The Rubicon is their most capable offroad factory Wrangler option and all Wranglers are convertibles, but I ordered one with a hard top. "

To which she goes "It's not like a Liberty or something, is it?"

I think we should give her credit...
It sounds to me like she was just trying to make sure you didn't make a mistake and buy the wrong vehicle.

Yeah, I think she got confused when I said I ordered a hard top.

Her last comment to me was that I need to take her offroading once I get it.

My wife said to me: "Why did you by that rusty piece of crap?"
After working on it for a few weeks, I replied: "I don't friggin know!"

Makes the beer taste better when I am done!

I get this all the time and I don't understand it. Everyone thinks that because it has a soft top that its freezing inside. On the contrary, it actually heats up pretty quickly and after a little bit I just turn the heat off or else it gets too hot.

I don't get that either.
All through the colder part of this winter, my wife's mother was always, "Be careful out in the cold." and "Isn't it too cold to get out?", when I'd mention that I was taking my son somewhere.
I'd say, "It's not cold in a nice warm Jeep!".
Besides, we live in Texas anyway... We don't even have "real" winters here.
I think she forgets that I spent time stationed at Elmendorf, AFB in Alaska.
If you wait for it to warm up there before you go out, you might stay in for 9 months!
LOL

I think people WAY overestimate the amount of insulation provided by normal vehicle cabs.

I got to school a little early this morning and am sitting in my jeep in the parking lot when an older lady pulls in next to me. I immediately see that she is parked horribly crooked. When she goes to get out she slams her door into the jeep and acts like nothing happened so I get out and say "hey you just hit my jeep with your door"
Lady- well that this is too big to be on the road, you shouldn't park it here.
Me - are you kidding?- this is when I walk to the passenger side to see about damage. She slammed her door into my rocker guard which had no damage but her door has a significant dent
Me- you know what, don't worry about it lady but you might want to get that door fixed then I got back in and parked in another lot.....lol

That's why I park next to small cars. Go ahead, slam your door into me, idgaf about my sliders, but you'll have a hell of a dent to deal with
Also makes mine look bigger

Rule #1: I try to park next to other Jeeps.
Rule #2: If no Jeeps or space available, park where there are no cars on either side.
Rule #3: If #1 & #2 are not doable, park next to a compact car.

My rules of parking. However, if the wife is in the car...
Rule #1a: If wife barks "why don't you park there", continue to drive around the parking lot, passing up spaces, until she responds with "you're just doing this to piss me off", which I respond with 'yes' and then select a parking spot.
