Smittybilt XRC8 Winch Solenoid went out

So, we have determined that my solenoid has gone out on my XRC8. I also found out from Smittybilt that I have a 1st generation winch. And to replace that solenoid from them would be $150.00. I may as well get a new winch, right?

So, I'm asking for some suggestions. Do I try to find the solenoid, If I can, or should I just get a new winch all together? Do I have any other options?

Thanks!

Get a new winch. The XRC8 is known to have weak gears. The XRC10 is better in that regards. Warn has some new winches out.

I would look at the engo winches, if looking for a upper end budget winch.

Tell them to swap it for the Gen 2 winched they are coming out with. Hopefully they have made improvements to their weak areas.

Go WARN, might cost you an extra dollar now, but it'll save you in the long run
