Sneak Attack Storms

Since purchasing my 2012 JKU I have become quite the meteorologist, being that I am 90% top down, doors off... Friday night however I got caught slacking as a storm moved through NOVA that killed 4 people and has left 1.5 million without power till at least Friday... That being said I won't complain to much about the 2.5 inches of water that filled my jeep as I raced to get the top up and doors on in the middle of what was the perfect storm but damn it was the last thing I expected that night being there was 0% chance of rain in the forecast... I will say though I am super happy that after pulling my plugs and getting the old shopvac out for the carpets and cup holders and pulling leaves and sticks out of the seats and every other nook and cranny they found their way into she looks just as new as the day I got her.... If jeep ever has a contest to see who can put a soft-top up and doors on the fastest I think I have a good chance of taking first...

oofah.. i had my top down/ windows off yesterday when a storm blew through.. THANKFULLY i was working outside at the time.. it went from hot/sunny to the worst downpour i've seen in years in a matter of minutes. As I got the last window in I got hit with a few huge drops.. by the time i made it to my front door (50 feet away), I was soaked...

glad you were able to get it all worked out and you definitely have the right outlook on the scenario

Glad you got it all cleaned up! I had my head under a rock most of the day not watching any news or weather. Wife and I ran out to pick up some Chipotle to go with the top down. Noticed the sky was looking a little funky as I was pulling into the garage but didn't think much of it. It wasn't 10 minutes after we came through the door that it started to rage outside. Lost power shortly after that.

Around midnight when it had all calmed down the kids were all awake so we decided to survey the damage in our area as an excuse to give everyone something to do. Jeeps were in the garage and I didn't feel like messing around with it having no power (plus the tops were still down) so we drove the truck. Saw lots of Jeeps out and about though and lots of damage along the way. Crazy storm that seemed to come out of no where.

Don't know if we have any power company folks on here but if we do....thanks for being out there in miserable weather getting us all back up and running. Much appreciated!

Do you have leather seats? I was wondering how they handled the rain. Living in Florida we get that kind of weather daily during the summer.

Yes I have leather seats and to be honest I am happy I got them being they wipe right off with a towel and are dry instantly... I use conditioner on them to keep them soft and try not to have them sit directly in the sun that much but hell at the end of the day its a jeep... I can't imagine how log it would have taken for them to dry had they been cloth...

I have cloth seats in my car... I've been rained on when I left the sunroof and windows open. There is a weird stain on my passenger side seat, and the only liquid that got there was rain. That's kind of why I'm leaning towards leather.

It was such a weird weather week too. Like, on Tuesday when I checked the forecast moving forward, it called for thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday. On Thursday, there was no more storms, just excessive heat. Everyone ended up surprised by the storm.

I wonder what changed from Tues to Thurs to make the meteorologists go, eh... it'll be blue skies, no worries!
