hard to tell how much its actually snowing vs. wind blown...45-60 mph gusts right now, sustained at 30. After dinner I'm going out for a bit and see if anyone needs any help

Fort Wayne/Allen County in Indiana is shut down. Gusts to 50+mph. Sitting here listening to the snow hitting the windows on the EAST side of the house. (wrap around weather system) 18"-24" drifts so far. Gonna be a great day in the AM.

Wow. That extra tidbit of info puts things into a much better (or worse!) perspective!

Careful out there guys! And keep that white stuff away from me!

yeah, when that lightning started blasting it was pretty hairy! I know we lost quite a few shingles, some of them are still visible sticking up in the snow.

I went to bed (passed out) at 11pm just prior to getting a text that the office will be closed today so I gets to spend it jeepin!!! Be taking the little lady to her work this AM. Looks like about a foot in my driveway, but there are several drifts almost 5 feet high around the neighbors cars. (Mines in the garage.) The plow guys left a HUGE pile blocking those of us at the end of the cul de sac in- or so they think. Looks like there's just enough room to go around...maybe 2 feet deep at the edges. I'll take the lady in and report back with pics.

My day off today. They asked me to come in cause no one else can or wants to make it. Drove my Jeep. Got stuck in a high drift but a person pushed me out. Have to say My Bronco did better than my Jeep in the snow...same size tires too. Think it is the weight?

So are the wranglers holding out well in this blizzard? Can they get out of the snow when surrounded like that in Plowboy1970's pics!? I think I'll stay in today!

Depends on the snow type.. When it's as bad as plowboy's with being buried in like that.. It helps to have a good AT or MT.. A street slick in his situation will likely make it a struggle.. He likely could have backed out of that between the 1st to 3rd shot depending on the snows water content

just got back from dropping off the lil' lady and digging out my co-worker and his neighbor...HOLY CRAP in Chicagoland....I've never seen snow like this anywhere but in the mountains or the UP in MIchigan...lots of abandoned/ditched vehicles on the roads. Trudie took all the drifts like a champ and even broke through a couple that were higher than her shoes (31"s)

I took a buncha pics w/ my blackberry soon as I get them set up I'll post

Holy snow! What a good time! Just spent an hour blasting through snowbanks! What a great time. Ashamed to say my jeep got stuck this morning on the driveway... But then I put it in 4wd . Not much of a problem except a little spinning when I got into the 3-4ft stuff. Going back out in a little while. Giving the ol machine a break! Hope everyones having fun!

Had no trouble backing out through that (which is at bumper level...angle of the camera doesn't show it that well). Came back, everyone was trying to dig themselves out - I plowed right back into my spot

let's see how many pics it'll let me post

ok, so these pics kind of tell the story of today...started out @ 7am, it was still snowing like a b1@tch. My driveway was about 18" deep, and my cul de sac had been plowed in (to a normal vehicle.)Took the fiancee into work, got around the snow mountian at the end of the cul de sac. took a couple of pics of abandoned SUVs. Main roads had been plowed earlier but were still drifted over. Side roads were untouched. Trudie had no issues in 4HI.

Dropped off the ol' lady, went over to a friend's in a nearby edition. His cul de sac was untouched and was over 31" deep at the entrance. Parked the jeep and hiked to his house. Helped him dig out (and give Trudie a place to turn around,) went back to jeep and blasted my way to his driveway in 4Lo. His neighbor tried to get out with a lifted Ram1500 using my path.
***EPIC FAIL***
After digging out his neighbor I went home. My path had drifted over - no problem. All my neighbors are snow bound. Checked on them and told 'em "let me know if you need anything...looks like I'm the only one getting out for awhile."

I love Trudie

the weight's definitely a factor but I'd say the main culprit are those racing slicks your jeep is rockin'.

Weight and tires are two big factors when it comes to the snow.. But a wrangler with a good AT or Sipped MT will be very successful in the snow.. Deep snow especially.. On a packed snow because of the wranglers short wheelbase they can get a little squirmy but 4wd corrects that immediately
