Soft Tops and Winter

I'm considering selling my hard top, but I'm concerned that it may considerably shorten the life of my soft top (original) due to the harsh Cleveland winters. So...to those of you who run soft tops all year and actually have winter snow, slush, salt, etc - how has your top held up to it? Zipper rusting? plastic windows cracking? salt staining? Anything else?

I know it will be noisier and maybe colder - I don't care about that. I plan to use the $$ for armor.

I've had my '01 since august, but it's been a new england car since it's original owner. It has the OEM top and there isn't a single problem with it. It has held up really well through 7 NE winters. One of the zipper pulls broke in half on the window, but that was probably unrelated.

I'm in NE Ohio and run my softtop. I love it since makes it easy for summer time vs the hard top. As for winter issues, I have none.

I also have the thermal liner for my soft top which definately helps keep the heat in

My soft top came from a salvage yard in NY. Kneers up Hoosick Street through Troy. It came off a 97, and mine's a 2001.

Anyway...

I've had it on for 4 winters, and it keeps heat in nicely, keeps snow and ice under control well, and is just as good as a hard top, except you can put it down whenever you want as opposed to having to go all the way back to your house. (Only paid $75 for it too! Win!)

I keep 3 in 1 oil on my zippers, and they are smooth as silk. No problems. These soft tops are tough as nails and stand up to anything nature can throw at it.

TL/DR - Don't worry about it.

Thanks! This is good news. That hardtop takes up half my garage all summer, and with the money I should be able to get for it I can buy the full Rokmen up armor skid package! Just might be a black LJ HT for sale real soon.

My soft top is still in good shape, granted it has only seen three Maine winters, I just keep the zippers oiled. So far so good.
