i have noticed there to be alot of soldiers on this site active duty, reserves, and retired military. So i thought maybe we needed a topic to Thank these military men and women and i would like to hear some story's. So if you are military and on this site please post up for us and lets hear what you are and where you are located at..... I will start with the thank you's......
The best story by far that I have from my time in service is this:
I was home here in PA on leave after spending months in the desert for Operation Desert Shield then Desert Storm. My leave was up and I was flying from Philly Int'l Airport back to California to return to my unit. On my flight was another Marine from the Philly area heading back to his unit. We had a layover of about an hour in Chicago's O'Hare airport before continuing our flight to San Diego. Now this was back in a time when servicemen flew in uniform. We were in our Charlie's. (former Marines know what uniform this is)
We had an hour layover in Chicago so we decided to head into a bar to have a beer before our flight boarded. We're in there having a beer when an older gentleman in a very fancy suit walked in. He sat down and ordered a drink. He finished his drink and walked right over to where we were standing. He dropped a $100.00 bill on the bar in front of us and said "drinks are on me thanks for your service" and walked out.
I was very impressed and very thankful...and of course we drank his $100.00 bill all gone!
thanks guys..... All military is loved here in my household, my grandfather was 92nd and my oldest brother was first sgt. in 101st airborn. I myself am not a military soldier but if i was ever asked to go i would proudly go with my head held high.....
I am a Commissioned Officer in the NOAA Corps, a small faction within the Dept. of Commerce. We are not military, as in the Armed Services, but a Uniformed Service nonetheless. I am, as we all are, indebted to our Armed Service Members for each night we sleep well in our warm beds. I am extremely grateful, and thank God every night, for the sacrifices these men and women and their families make every day. It keeps my mind at peace knowing these heroes are keeping my family safe while I am away. God Bless America, and Lord bring them home safe. Huzzah!!!!
