"Sponsership" Of Jeep, is it worth it?

Hey guys. New to the jeep committee, so hello! I have a 2012 Saraha Unlimited 4door...I submitted a pic and brief word about my Jeep to Ace offroading and they selected my jeep for their sponsership program....I still have to call. But basically is says I would have to purchase their package ( front and back bumpers and rock sliders) they would provide a 15% discount and they would have graphics put on my jeep for free for a year.

Granted I don't know pricing....but 15% doesn't seem all that much?

Any input would be appreciated!

Maybe it's just me but sponsorship usually means free, not discounted.

Hell, WF members routinely get 10% (or better) off on orders from various vendors and we aren't required to have vendor graphics plastered all over our rigs.

That being said, If you want the discount and don't mind the graphics then go for it.

People buy bumpers & sliders, and somethimes you can score a package discount - might end up being close to 15%.

But putting their graphics all over your rig....I'd think you could do better than 15% for a years worth of advertising. Now 35-40% off, now your talking.

With all that said, if you were already planning on purchasing all this stuff anyway, then heck go for it.

So they can get your exclusive business for everything... 15% off is no big deal.

Totally agree about "sponsorship" maybe it's clever marketing...Not too thrilled to have their name plastered all over my jeep. How it read....doesn't seem like a deal breaker. Def need the stuff, appreciate the advice guys!

Thanks! Keep it coming

So you submitted a pic and they chose you as the winner? I'm wondering if everyone that submitted a pic is now a "winner"? LOL

It'll be funny if I suddenly start seeing jeeps all over town running ACE sponsorship graphics.

Kind of a great marketing ploy if you ask me.

Once you get the parts for a discount, why not just don't put the stickers on? They coming to your house to check?

That's certainly isn't much.
Redbull is offering $300 per month for a body wrap on a 3 and 6 month contract.

Come on dude.......Life is simple. Get their price on a part or two and then call Northridge 4x4 to compare. Ask for the Wrangle Forum Member discount. Make sure you get to you door prices or it's all been a waste.

No, As a business owner myself i dont get where ACE is coming from. If i was going to sponsor someone to ADVERTISE for my products they would be free or HEAVILY discounted (with a required decal and sticker for a set amount of time and a few big trail ride get together)

15% off is nothing. I would have no problem reping for their company and i would accept the stickers on my jeep for a year if they were free or i got them for 80% off because they are an awesome company. But if i have to PAY to rep for them what is the point?

I think they need a new marketing department.

A sponsor pays for you to use their product ie: gives you product in exchange for advertising. This doesn't sound like that at all. I'd guess 15% doesn't count for much more than selling it to you at cost. They get to write it down anyhow, so I'm not sure why they are so stingy. I'd pass, buy the bumpers on sale on Cyber Monday (or whenever), and go about my life. But, that's just me.

Ha...sponsorship?!?!??!

I should be stickering my Jeep with eBay logos and domains cause I am more than likely getting a better deal on everything myself. 15%? No thanks!

Wait, if you didn't think it was worth it, why did you apply? Their terms were up front, 15% discount on the package if you add their graphics. They aren't twisting your arm, nor did they seek you out. You sought them out and now they are getting thrown under the bus? If you don't like what their program is, don't do it. I for one think it is kinda cool they offer it for those that want it. I know most other companies aren't offering 15% off for running multiple parts.

I always wonder "who actually falls for these scams?" when I see glaringly obvious scams. Well, now I know.

15%???

Thats it?

I can get 15% off just about anything buy calling them up and asking for it.

What a Joke.

If a business wants to put graphics on my Jeep they can pay me 10 grand and all their armor must be installed for free and mine to keep after the year is over.

I don't think the term sponsorship really applies here. Multi-purchase discount maybe....but at a steep entry fee.

I would go with TrueNorth on the fact that you can call about anyone and negotiate a deal.

Wait for a group buy?

Nobody said it wasn't worth it, looking for input, and thats what I got. Maybe re-read my thread. Pretty simple:

Its not the traditional sponsorship. Its basically just rolling PR. You roll around with Ace products on your rig with graphics, and in return, get 15% off. One of my M3s had full sponsorship, and it was a lot more involving...I was not allowed to run any other brand of parts (unless company didn't make those parts), I had to attend and participate in 6 shows a year, and had to make my vehicle available for them to take it to shows (trailered, sometimes, 3 weeks at a time.) It was worth it, because I didn't drive it that much and all the parts/labor were free.

Reread and it is indeed simple. You asked if it was worth it. I asked why you even bothered applying if you didn't think it was already. Just to waste their time and your own? Chuckle Chuckle back at ya...

Yeah this is a ploy. 15% is nothing. If it was 50% or more, then OK.

But you can get 15% off just by asking the guys at Northridge.

There are diff levels of sponsorship

There is partial & there is full sponsorship. I am building my rig for the SEMA show and have gotten full sponsorships for some products and partial for the others.

No, I don't think it's worth it.

And for perspective, this weekend I decided the best purchase I've made in a long time was their rock rails. But that's after the 6th time I fell off a ledge or in a hole and had the whole Jeep supported by them on one side. I have to say, they make this aweful world is ending THUNK when you end up on the rails. After powerwashing I looked under them to see how bad they looked. A half a dozen + drops on them in one day, and you can't even tell it happened.

They make amazing things, and I will recommend them to everyone, but advertise for 15%? No thank you.
