Spool, mini spool, welded daily driver

Anyone daily drive a fully locked rear end? Is it tolerable and does it significantly decrease tread life?

kills your tires. makes it fun to drive in the rain and snow. really hard to park it in a tight spot. you can't really make tight turns. mini spools, spools and Lincoln lockers are rough on the street. I'd just do an Aussie lunch box locker. not noticeable on the street and huge help on the trails

Not in a Jeep but in a couple of cars with locked rears, it's fun at first but becomes a PITA. Like said rain will cause butt puckers, along with the first couple of easy turns you have to make and find the vehicle wants to go straight, and not turn. Or the moan/chirping as the inside tire is spinning on sharp turns.

Thanks for the input guys. I was just asking because a full spool for a 9" is only 30 bucks brand new and lockrights go for 300.... Lincoln lockers are even cheaper!!!! I figured I could manage slick roads but I just don't wanna eat up 1000$ worth of tires in half the time they're supposed to last

my TJ has a lincon locked rear end and its hard to drive on the street. the rear axle fights every turn on pavement. My XJ before had an Aussie lunch box locker. fine to drive on the street as it would ratchet around corners and would only lock up on rare occasions in a turn.
