Starting problem low mileage

Hello all, I am brand new to the forum, but have had my Jeep Unlimited since 2004. It had 3 miles on it when I took it home and now has 30,000. I keep up on maintenance, but the last couple of weeks, I have had starting issures. I turn the key and it cranks. I stop after 2 or 3 cranks and try it again. It starts right up. This has never happened before, usually starts on first crank with no gas given. I was told by a friend to change the fuel filter, but it is supposedily lifetime plus its in the gas tank. Can anyone else offer suggestions? Thanks a newby trying not to get taken advantage of by the autoshops in our area.
Thank you in advance

First welcome to the forum. You might want to start with cheapest first. When was the last time you checked your battery? Start by checking all connections for corrosion by cleaning them with a wire brush. When you reconnect, make sure that the connection is tight. You should not be able to move the connectors. It could be that you don't have enough power for the fuel pump to prime while cranking.

Thank you. I'll give that a try in the morning. And thank you for not making me look like an idiot for not trying that first. You are right it does sound like a good place to start.

It wasn't the battery. That is well charge. Any other suggestions before I bite the bullet and go for a new Fuel Pump? Its not real bad, I only have to crank a couple of times stop and then it turns over and runs fine. I hate to have to spend the money on Fuel Pump around 700.00 installed I think.
