Street jeep tires

I'm going to buy new tires for my cj soon since the bfg a/ts that it has now have some dry rot.

I want a 32" tire
The two tires I'm considering are the bfg a/t's and the cooper discoverer stt.

I got a quote locally for $155/ea for the 32x11.50-15 stt's and the bfg a/t's are $126 on tirepackage.

my cj is a "street jeep" and the only wheeling it will probably ever see is some sand. I want something that is quiet and rides good onroad, and a tire with good tread life. I've only had experience with the bfg a/t's and I know they will work perfect for me but I'm interested in the stt's b/c I like how they look .
Out of those 2 which would you all recommend? and would you recommend another tire?
here's the cj : http://www.wranglerforum.com/cj-jeep...t-cj-8524.html

Thanks ,
-Matt

Maybe try Nitto terra Grapplers or even dune grapplers. I have had exp. w/ terra grapplers. They are quiet and wear great. Great in all weather. Bfg's are my second choice. I love em.

Just a thought.

Check out the Pirelli Scorpion ATR, I don't know where you are but they are a very good tire in just about anything but they flat out shine on wet roads. I just looked them up and will be ordering 4 of the 30's for one of my TJ's, they came down quite a bit in price.

If you are concerned about street performance and know that you will not be going off road, then choose an AT for good road performance instead of a tire that is claming superior off road traction without also bragging about it's on-road performance. The Cooper STT seems to be getting good street performance reviews, but with the primary goals you mentioned, I would choose the TA/KO from your short list of two. For good street performance and a lower price, the General Grabber AT2 might also be a good choice. On the otherhand, if you really like the look of the STT then buy them...just be prepared for some compromises in street performance. The STT does look great on a Jeep! If you are running 32's on the street you are already compromising the onroad handeling/performance, so you might as well get the one that looks better to you. The STT might be my next tire purchase.

A few other tires (from a much larger list) that I would/am considering in the 31x10.5x15 size are:

Cooper ST
Kumbo Road Venture MT KL71
Toyo Open Country AT
Firestone Destination M/T

Another vote for BFG A/T's. My 32x11.5x15's are wearing great and are fairly quiet on road. The ones we had on my mom's XJ last almost 75k miles.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm 99% sure that I am going to go with the bfg a/t's and I might even drop down to 31's. I might get new wheels while I'm at it and keep these as a second set

I've got BFG AT/KO's on all three of our jeeps, yea, I like them and actually need them up here for winter driving. However I will still stick with the Pirelli scorpions for what you are describing as normal use. If there are wet roads in your life they flat out shine in that dept.
I've had GY's wranglers and Dunlap's but end up going back to BFG's. Wifes ZJ is getting scorpions next to replace the so-so tires that came on it last year when we bought it. I was going to put them on one of my TJ's but I just got 5 BFG MT's for $200 with less than 100 miles on them on canyons so I just swapped a spare set of canyons I had for his already mounted and balanced canyons.

My new Cooper STTs are better on the road in rain than my old BFG ATs. IMO the STTs are better for a daily driver.

in deep snow they were good. if there´s compressed snow or ice on the road they´re as bad as all other ATs or MTs. for that a real winter tire would be better.
