Now there's a conciliatory comment. All us 4 wheelers regardless of brand preference better stick together so we will continue to have open trails to ride.

When Top Gear hangs an indestructible Jeep in their studio on permanent display, I'll be impressed with Jeep build quality.

First of all, it's Alabama.

just kidding! I see stuff like this here in Georgia, too. I look at this way... Someone, like myself, chooses to ride in something that affords them a lot of fun off the road. Us rednecks got different tastes and likes just like anyone else.

I'd ride with him anytime.

Unless he's a Bama fan.

Some people would argue that Toyo's are just as capable if not more capable than a jeep.

Jezza Hamster and Slow have all said that Jeeps are horrid in various episodes (the episode with Kristin Scott Thomas they showed an employee that has a TJ) but Hammond also showed some love to the Jeep set when he brought a Vitara to be a new police car (officer Barbie James called him).

They used a Hilux for the same reason they drop pianos on Morris', because they are plentiful and cheap.

For the record the next truck I buy will be a Titan, and my best friend has a '03 Taco I work on happily (she has never taken her doors off though), but Toyota guys hate on Jeeps WAY more than Jeep guys hate on Toyotas, just look at the forums and you'll see that.

My main reason for posting was to get back at the majority of toyota guys and have some laughs. All fun and games never meant to offend anyone Lol

The haters in either groups are ignorant and self absorbed.

Yep - my comment was tongue in cheek, just like most of Top Gear. What I'm really waiting for is a rocket ship Jeep.

I am considering buying one of the old taco's and doing the same thing. I miss the truck bed for utility reasons and hauling. Having a trailer hitch and a trailer just doesn't give the same benefits.

The only thing I would say is bad about that Toyota is the lack of rollbar/cage. I like the look with the tube doors and it looks like he has spent some time and money building it.
It has nothing to do with Jeep envy and thinking that way is just crazy.

Shoot I'd wave to him if I passed him driving down the road. Life is short so why waste energy on bashing a nicely built Toyota.

Geaux Tigers!

As someone who owns a Wrangler and an 86 4Runner with a soft top, I've spent a lot of time on Yota forums and I have no idea where some of you are getting this idea that yota drivers hate on Jeeps so much, it's just not true.

X2. My club is not manufacturer prejudice. We all wheel, camp, and hang out together just fine. Jeeps, Toyotas, early Broncos, IH Scouts, and even a couple JK's.

Keeping public lands open to the public should be our main focus, not who is driving what.

We all need to stick together, tread lightly, and educate others to do the same.

This is the only toyota I consider a true match for wrangler. Back when I lived in venezuela these were the "wranglers" that dominated south america , they had better torque and HP than wranglers and solid axles front and back. You could smack and crash these suckers and they would last forever. For years I've been trying to find one here in the states that wont cost above $50K with 0 luck

Now that is awesome. I want one! I also wish they sold the Toyota Helix here. Seen a few in Texas and Arizona but nowhere else.

In our club we have a lot of makes and models. I can think of a lot of times I was glad that old heavy f250 was there.... the hole was deeper then I thought and no body had to get wet when it was cold to hook to me. Stand in tje bed and back in. I use the lifted toyota in the grouo with the crazy looking homemade snorkel as a depth finder too..... just sayin.

To each their own, I prefer American made, but some of the Toyotas I've seen look pretty sweet. The other day I saw a late 90s (maybe 98?) Camaro with the doors off...

The Tundra is made in America. In fact I think 7 of top 10 most American made vehicles are foreign brands.

Quit hatin on yotas.

http://www.webwire.com/ViewPressRel.asp?aId=174055

Find me a place a stock 97 wrangler can go a stock 97 FJ80 can't. For every 1, I'll find 3 the opposite. The 'option' of lockers on those solid axles was which locker, several choices existed. Front and rear. Toyota has done plenty to further our, OUR, offroad fun. So has Jeep. As owners, can't we come together for the common fun? Would you not go on a trail run if it wasn't Jeep exclusive? Or just if they took off the doors?

IMO as a previous yota owner (couple, actually, so a double jerk?), that is a nice rig. Very nice. Doors or not.

But we can ALL bash on these guys, right?
