Sunrider/general soft top question

hey all. i've been running with the windows off and keeping the top on and notice there is some flapping from the sail panels. are they durable enough to withstand highway speeds? the noise doesn't bother me, i just want to make sure i'm not wearing the soft top out faster than i should.

as for my sunrider question, i opened it up and loved it but i don't know where to put the straps that came with it. seemed to be fine without them, i just clamped the header latches and everthing stayed put.

The sail panels will be fine, however you may have to deal with them popping out of the lip that hold them down from time to time. You might also be putting extra presure on the stiching, leading to extra "wear". One alternative that will reduce to noise is this:

Cloverpatch Convert-a-top

(Note: the add says that it's not compatable with the unlimited top because of the plastic panels. You can unzip the sail panels and remove the plastic pieces, then it will work. I took the plastic pieces out a year ago, makes dropping the top easier and I've noticed no difference with them in or out.)

As to the sunrider, I never got the straps so I've been using it without them for 2 1/2 years. Never had a problem.

thanks man, that looks like the way to go. haven't had them pop out/untuck on me yet, but having this will save some wear and tear and make it quieter. seems worth the investment.

I use the strap with the hook on one end for my sunrider, Wrap the loose end around the roll bar and then the hook goes up into the header, it works good and actually pulls the loose part of the top back a little and gives you more opening.
