Switching insurance carriers. Progressive or travelers

Currently I have State Farm, and I'm unable to insure the aftermarket parts I've added to my jeep. This doesn't sit well with me, as I already have around 5 grand into it, and that number will keep going up in the future. I'm really afraid of totaling my jeep, because there's been a lot of close calls due to other drivers not paying attention...

So I went to the nearest AAA and told the lady what I wanted, and she came up with quotes from travelers and progressive. Both are cheaper than State Farm by a few dollars, and in the event of an accident, they will pay me the cost to replace whichever aftermarket parts are damaged. The policies are $70-80 a month for the full coverage, the same as what I have now, but including the custom parts replacement. My current payment is $100 for my jeep and a motorcycle.

Is there anyone that has anything to say about these two companies? I've had State Farm since I started driving, and am in the dark when it comes to this stuff.

I liked Progressive when I had them, the downer was buying the house and finding out their homeowners insurance was $$$.

The adjuster I dealt with was fine, I thought they paid fair when my TJ was totaled and it wasn't a big hassle. Years prior when I had my Chevy broken into I told them I wasn't sure if making a claim was worth it. They came out and cut me a check, I guess even after my deductible it was worth doing.

Umm I've had State Farm for decades now. When I buy a vehicle, new or used I stop by the agent's office. They take some photos of it, and document any add ons. If I add anything later I stop by and have em record it.

Sounds like you need another agent.

My dad, who worked for Travelers, had their auto insurance. He's now looking to switch companies. Premium got was too high for a Honda CRV and a used 2009 Lexius. Said he was paying close to 3k a year. Haven't heard anything about State Farm besides all the commercials. I guess Progressive is equally high in insurance.
