t plug wireing harness for towing a trailer

first I have a trailer that I tow with a toyota, and the trailer lights work perfect when connected to the toyota. and when I bought a t wireing harness for 2001 jeep wrangler, the trailer lights don't work right. tail lights work, left turn signal blinks on right side. no right turn signal, no brake lights. payed 35 bucks for the new wireing harness. supposed to be the correct one for the 2001 jeep wrangler. anyone have an idea whats wrong?

In my experience 95% of problems like that, that seem to make no logical sense have to do with a ground issue.

When you installed the wiring harness, did you ground the white wire to the frame with a screw? Also, trace the white wire on the trailer and see how it grounds. If screwed down, remove and rough up the area with some sandpaper or a Dremmel tool to make sure it is connecting good.

Some installations rely on grounding through the ball, which can be hit or miss. For instance if you have a new reciever it might not work until you drive around a little and wear some of the paint off. Hope something in here helps....
