Anybody on the road can affect or risk your life, impaired or not. I've seen people daydream and cause accidents. Do we make daydreaming a crime? There is no true accidents. There is always a root cause. Stupid is not a crime but maybe you think it should be? Rarely can you fix stupid.

I don't want anybody to get hurt. Use common sense or stay off the road. We don't need a law to hinder us.

I suppose you are also the kind of person that instead of monitoring what your kids watch or do you would rather have the FCC do it for you or the cops to watch your kids. Take responsibility for your actions don't rely on a law to do it for you!
Again, you keep going in circles with the same flawed 'logic'.

Use common sense or stay off the road?? YOU ADMITTED YOU TEXT AND DRIVE!!! Clearly you don't use common sense...so why are you still driving?

We don't need a law to hinder us?? YOU JUST SAID IT DOESN'T AFFECT YOU IF YOU DON'T BREAK IT!!!! Are you breaking the law?

My actions aren't in question. My driving record is impeccable. But it isn't by chance...I pay attention to all the idiots not paying attention. I ride a motorcycle - my life depends on me being responsible on the road...full attention at all times. My Cutlass is my pride and joy - I did the paint and body work on it myself...last thing I want is some moron slamming into it because they weren't paying attention (not to mention it has 1968 level safety equipment). My attitude has always been the best way to survive a crash is to never get in one. But even so, I can only do so much...the more idiots on the road texting while driving...the worse my chances get. So yeah, I want the law to step in and remove one of the most prominent distractions to drivers...to save MY LIFE from THEIR STUPIDITY.

So it's been, and shall be weighed: though many are born, few are "made". Faithful Always, they shall remain, dogs to loose when war is waged.

There is no way I would let my 16y/o child have a cell phone if they are sending 5000+ texts per month, it's pretty obvious that if she texts that much she's doing it while driving.

Hey guess what. Texting while driving is against the law in 30 states. Therefore encouraging others to break the law while you are breaking the law yourself is against forum policy.
