Tinting Plastic Windows??

Short of spending +$300.00 on up on a new soft top with tinted windows, is there any way you guys know of or have heard of ways to tint plastic windows for a soft top?

I was thinking of trying it out with one of those cans of hobby paint that's opaque smoke or something, you know, the kind that some folks use to make their tail lights or headlights look smoked or blacked out?

What do you guys think?

I'd be afraid of an chemical reaction and possibly ruining your windows. How about the film type?

HA HA 02Prove!! Yeah, it happens!

But back to the topic at hand. The hobby spray paint is actually formulated for plastic tail lights so I'm hoping it'll react the same way to the plastic windows (I've used one before on my old car's plastic tail lights). Just wondering if anyone has a different take on it.

I've thought about going the film type route, just not sure if the film will stay on considering the plastic windows are so pliable that the adhesive from the film might not hold up too long. That along with the constant rolling, unrolling of the windows.

I would think it'd be difficult to get it even and it not be blotchy. Even with a steady hand and decent spray nozzle.

I've done quite a bit of DIY tint jobs to be really good at it. I'm more worried about the fact that that film stuff might eventually come off from all the hard flapping caused by wind gusts when goin' down the highway.

And yeah, the plastic windows being uneven and way too pliable will definitely bring about creases and bubbles. Which I find totally annoying!
