I'm talking to a guy about an old CJ to rebuild. It's a tub, frame, axles, and 35's. He just offered me a "14 bolt if I were going with bigger tires". What's that mean??

A 14 bolt is GM's one ton axle. Mr.Clifford has a 14 bolt front axle that's been modified to a 13 bolt. The bottom has been shaved for added ground clearance which eliminates the lowest bolt.

It's somewhat equivalent to a Dana 60.

Here's some reading for you: http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billav...ble/index.html

I believe Mr.C has a 14bolt rear... I don't think they Chevy ever made a 14bolt front.

Well, I got pictures of it today. Lots of them. Really great pictures... and after sitting and going over them with Cain, I'll be passing on the FrankenCJ. Disappointed, but glad Chris knows his stuff. Oh well, I'm sure I'll find something.

You can't trust anything he says. He just doesn't want you to have another Jeep now that he's only cruising in the super beetle.

I'm sure you'll find something.

I realize that. But it is possible to built a tube chassis "buggy" for $ 40k or less.

The deciding factor will be who builds it.

Yourself duh. Take shipment of the chassis, and then add as you go.

Phhft... How would she build a chassis without a bender, tons of tubing, and any welding experience?

As for the tubing you buy it bent and weld it..

Chris wouldn't steer me wrong.... it was a franken-frame and not from the jeep it was supposed to be from.
