tire decision

I am looking to upgrade from the stick tire size to 31's on my TJ. The local tire shop quoted me 500 for four kuhmo tires and America tires quoted me 500 for Hankook tires. I also found a set of used Toyo open country for 360 and used Bridgestone Dueler for 275. The thing is my dad feels like i should just replace my one bad tire with my spare and run it like that, because Im looking to enlist and would probally leave at the begginig of fall. His reasoning is that he doesn't want Tires that I put on now to rot away while I'm gone. My question is does anyone have any experience with any of these brands and is his reasoning sound or should I replace them.

Before people answer what kind or tires? Street, all terrain, mud terrain?

All the tires that I mentioned above are all terrain

Your dad is right. Save your cash in the bank and let it build interest. Parts only depreciate. You will have plenty of time when you're done, or on a break to enjoy building it up and actually using it.
