Tire shop rant

I dont mean to sound cheap but I went to my local tire shop pricing a set of 4 33x12.5-15 duratracs. I told them tire rack had them for 769.08 including tax and shipping. For the same deal with no mounting or balancing (just the tires out the door) they best they could do is 800. They would not budge on that price. I realize it's only about 30 bucks, but come on, they could be shipped to my door for less than 800! Sorry for the rant. If anyone has found these tires cheaper, I'd really like to know where you found them. So far tire rack has the best deal. discount tire has free shipping but still more than tire rack. hmmm.

The shop has to ship them in too. and They also need to make a profit. They probably pay more for shipping than tire rack does, and they could drop 30 but they don't need to. they get plenty of customers who are happy with that price. IMO for the same tires and stuff your talkin I got them and has the mount and balance for around the same area you are lookin at.

My local mechanic does all my tire mounting and balancing for 10 bucks each. I do a lot of business with him though.

I'd pay the $30 and buy them local. TireRack ain't going to do squat for you if you get a bad tire that you need to warranty out, well, not without shipping it back to them or something.

Hate to be the one to ask the obvious question. But, if you can get them from Tire Rack cheaper than from the local guy why don't you just buy them from Tire Rack?

I will go with tire rack. I was just gonna have them mounted today. If they'd match the price. I realize 30 bucks isn't a huge deal but i would think they could match the price if they wanted my business. I guess they have their reasons as you guys have explained. I guess I'm just a lil impatient. I've had these dc2s sitting in my garage for some time and I'm getting antzy lol. Apologies for the complaining.

Side note: Is tire racks customer service that bad?

820 out the door for another tire shop I checked out. He tried talking me into the firestone destinations but I hadnt heard too many reviews on those so I passed it up. The 820 includes mounting, balancing, and valve stems. He shaved a few bucks off per corner because I'm keeping/selling my 32" coopers with the rims, and he isn't mounting them on the jeep. I'm havin' high expectations for these duratracs. I'm sure they'll be awesome.
