TJ fuel economy?

I have an '06 wrangler rubicon. It's sitting on 33's and it gets about 14 1/2 mpg. These things don't have very big tanks and I'm tryi g to figure out the best mods to increase my fuel economy. Any suggestions?

Buy a Honda?

I was getting 15-16 mpg on 32's in a 2003 TJ. Then I compared my mileage using a GPS, and realized the PO hadn't changed the speedo gear when he installed the bigger tires. Once I did the math, I found out I was actually averaging 17-18mpg. I topped out at 22mpg on a trip to Durango, CO this summer. The bad news was the low-mileage special turns out to have about what a 2003 TJ should have. Live and learn...

Download a GPS speedometer to your phone and use it check that your speedometer is correctly calibrated. I have a 4cyl 06 TJ that was getting 19mpg stock. I just installed a lift and 33" tires and my calculation said 18 mpg, but I feel like that may not be right so I'm keeping an eye on the math for the next few fill-ups.

So much comes into play in this from tire size, transmission, gears, lift size, tank size, engine mods, and how heavy your foot is... There is probably 50+ threads on this subject...

I have a 99 sport
5 speed
33's mud tires
4.5 lift
D44/D30 4.10 gears and detroit locker
19 gal tank
Bored throttle body and throttle body spacer
Cold air Intake
784 injectors
And I drive it like I stole it

I get around 14 mpg

About 15mpg, downhill with a tailwind. Only have 2" OME and 32s.
Couldn't care less about the mileage if it stays in this ballpark though.

So if the speedo calibration is off the odometer will be off?? And thus the mpg calc would be off??

My speedo is about 10% low so would I just add 10% of the odo mileage when I calculate mpg? That might bring me up to 15 from 14!!
