TJ replacement top

Hi, all, haven't been here in awhile but now that the weather's warming up the Jeep is getting a lot more road time. Anyway, have a 97 TJ and although the top isn't in terrible shape, I'm thinking of getting a replacement. It's a little mildewed from the previous owner, and some of the zippers are getting hard to deal with, as well as the windows looking kinda scratchy. Yesterday in particular, the rear window zipper keeps separating and I can't put the window back on. So I'm thinking of not fighting with it anymore and just replacing it.

So what are my best options for a replacement top? What type and weight of material? I see some of the higher end tops are made from sailcloth, what's the advantage/disadvantage vs. vinyl? What other features/specs should I be looking at? Any advice appreciated.

If your hardware is still in good shape then Bestop Replace-A-Top (a.k.a. RAT) is a good option that won't break the bank.

Hardware is fine. Current top is Pavement Ends and I'm not sure what you'd call the material. Would Pavement Ends be original equipment or was this a replacement by the previous owner? Thanks.

I love my Best Top Trektop, Highly recommend it. No more hardware is AWESOME! It also keeps the Sunrider which is also nice. Super easy install.

We have a few different Replacement Tops. People have been happy with the Barricade tops if you're on a budget. Let me know if you'd like a quote on anything you see!
