Towing

Hi to All!
how much can I safely tow with a 4 cyl. Wrangler with a manual trans? Thanks!

I think it is rated 2000 lbs. tongue weight 200 lbs. Towing with a short wheel base can be tricky. It's not the towing that is the problem. It's the stopping.

I would think that you will run out of power before you would overload the jeep.

here in germany we´re allowed to tow 2 tons (4400 lbs) with our TJs. but we have a speed limit of 50 mph when we are towing.

That's crazy. You would never see me towing 4400 lbs at 50 mph. That's a death wish.

i did that many times with a 24ft boat on a trailer. that was no problem.

You got bigger ones than me. I could just see that 24 ft trailer passing me by and pulling me along with it. How did you keep from frying your brakes?

Germany has some interesting motor laws to say the least. I was blowing down the autobahn near Garmisch Partenkirchen doing about 160 clicks and passed a quad (yes a quad) on the road. He had to be going 120-130 km/hr.

I love the military signage they have on all the bridges with pictures of the tanks and trucks showing the tonnage allowances. I really wanted to take one of the signs home.
