Trade up from '05 LJ

Am looking at getting a 2012 sport 2 door. Will have to get rid of my '05 LJ to get necessary funds. To those of you that have traded up from pre '05 to post '05, especially 2012, have you had any major regrets or any at all? It's a DD and will spend 98% of it's time on the road, the rest in the sand at the beach. The only reason the 2 door is more desirable is maneuverability in town.

If you are a person with a few years left on you, then the LJs probably going to be more collectable in the long run. I wish I still had my '71 Cuda.

And as far as them being worth anything or a collectible..doubt it. Nothing that is manufactured these days is going to be a collectible. Everything is cookie cutter mass produced with no unique quality or special craftsmanship. Thats goes for everything from automobiles to microwave ovens. I could be wrong though. I guess we'll see in 50 years, lol.

I wouldn't get rid of an LJ though. Simply because it was a great idea and didn't last too long.

I'm leaning toward keeping my LJ. Thanks for the remarks. At 58 I'm pretty sure I won't make another 50 years to see whether it becomes a collectable. It's a miracle I've made it this long.

While I'm very impressed with the new drivetrain for 2012, I can't imagine why you'd trade for a 2-door JK. I could see a family trading for a 4-door, but that's about it.

Just out of curiosity, where are you located? My son would love to find an 05 or 06 LJ that is not beat to hell. There are a few around here but they are beat on pretty bad, have an enourmous amount of miles and the owners want and arm and a leg for them.

Mike.

I live in Smithfield Va. At this point I think my LJ will stay in the driveway.

trading out of an LJ for anything is a trade down!

mike, wanna throw some numbers out there. you might want to "import" one from the east, were many have them as second or third vehicles, and don't have the environment to do heavy damage to them off road.
