Trail Rated from Jeep

It was to my knowledge that Jeep started using the "Trail Rated" system in 2007 for the new Wrangler, the JK. I recently went to my uncles house who has a 2004 TJ. He seems to have a "trail rated" logo on his, and i know he didnt put it on there. So what year did they start putting the Trail Rated badges on the sides of the vehichles?

2004 was first year I believe.

And I do not think it meant anything diff that wasn't avail prior but was more of a marketing deal.

You are right. The logo was to indicate a level of 4x4 capability as judged by the "Nevada Automotive Test Center."
