I have a 55 Chevy Hotrod, big nasty cam, full length headers and dumped flowmasters. It's loud, but I don't go around revving it at people for no reason trying to scare them. I like heavy metal music and every car I've owned has has a nice system in it, but I don't go around blaring it all the time because of common courtesy. Not everyone want to hear it. I like having fun, but there is a place and time for it.
If the horns are DOT approved, great, I have zero problem with it. If you get your jollies from honking your horn for no reason at random people, whatever.
I read "train horns" and I interpreted it as REAL train horns (there are people who do run the REAL deal on their trucks). THAT is what I have the problem with. If you just want loud semi-truck style horns to honk at random people, again, whatever. It's childish and pointless, but we can all be accused of that at some point.
Dang sorry to hear your teen years weren't tht fun! One of those who got off on number 2 pencils and long textbooks huh?

So by your own words there you drive a Jeep because it's not safe or legal? Maybe you should check out some of the Jeep forums that are a little more your style?
If you wanted to give other "youngins" a bad name, congrats.

Amen. Exactly what I'm saying. The thread was not called, "hey is this train horn illegal or not? Is it right? Will it kill? Lol"

Musta been a teeny train horn....most of the "real" ones I have seen are over 4 feet long and require the amount of air that no 12v compressor could supply. Its because of that they are usually found on 18 wheelers and such. These are the ones that will make you load your drawers uncontrollably if used in your direction.

LovethisTJ..... I drive a semi and there are 2 horns. A city horn and an air horn. You can get a ticket for blowing the air horn in city limits, I have "train" horns on my jeep but use a separate switch, so I can keep the regular one. My advice to you is keep the reg one also. Even if you just wire it to a separate button

haha this is a funny post...... last month the police impounded a brand new ford f-350 for having train horns, and would not release it to the owner until a citified mechanic removed it from his truck.... see the guy way a dick blowing it at 3am out side a nursing home so the cops returned the "favor"
