Dude, you're playing with fire. The other thread was closed for a reason. I'm sure if you don't keep this one civil, you'll get more than a stern warning. I don't care what you do, personally. Train horn, no train horn. Doesn't matter to me. Just don't F**K with the rules to this forum.

^ yea me too (on a side note, I wish the forum would automatically copy the quote above you when you ^)

But I'll start the thread off right.

I absolutely hate them, they're obnoxious and serve absolutely no purpose. I don't think it's funny in the least bit, especially considering how damaging they can be. It's like people who blast their subwoofers in neighborhoods and within city limits, they give a TERRIBLE reputation for everyone else who enjoys that hobby. I've never laughed once at those videos. Anyone who uses them as a prank to scare the general public should have their license revoked - end of story. It's no different then firing a starting pistol in a crowded room.

I agree.
Train horns are ghetto to be quite honest. All they do is distract people, whch thus, endangers other motorists if they freeze and fail to act and or react.
Infact I have damage in my left from you Jack A**** who honk your train horn at pedestrians.
"you" was used as a tool of explanation... Not targeting anyone on here. Just thought I'd clarify first

And I just read the locked thread that was in question. Lock this one and temp ban in order. FoR33l you didn't need to post a new thread on this topic.

Train horns?

They are not illegal here and I have them on certain vehicles and use them for certain instances. I don't use them everyday nor will I start....mostly I have them for on highway treks when I have the 40' trailer behind me and people decide to cut me off...then they get it. One cannot say what is pointless/worthless about what another person likes. For that matter I think body armor is worthless and a waste of money...see, it really doesn't matter does it? I think honestly people are just looking for a topic to get all fired up about and see how far they can take it.....that to me is worthless

A lot...

Anybody know the laws regarding LEGAL air horns/train horns in Ohio? I would like to get something extra loud...not for messing with pedestrians though (I've matured since those days of scaring people on the sidewalk with loud horns/exhaust...although one night super late, a guy did get me good with one of those old Awoooooga style horns...I jumped in the bushes along the sidewalk. lol).

Around here, people are constantly pulling right out in front of you...especially on the country roads I drive every day to/from work...or they cruise like 20mph under the speed limit when there are no reasons for them to need to slow down.

I'd like something that not only lets them know that they are a complete idiot...but gathers the attention of those AROUND them too so they get to not only know you're totally pissed off at them, but that everyone else is now paying attention to them as well.

Plus you gotta admit...our horns on our Jeeps are pathetic at best. The only thing I've heard that's more pathetic than a Jeep horn is the dying duck/horn on my brother's old moped.

dB levels are obviously different at various distances...I am not sure how they are measured by the factory. I would guess they are measured close since there is always a pissing contest between manufacturers as to who makes the loudest. But, if you would like, I can measure the dB level of the ole ladys horns and report back

I think people using train horn to scare pedestrians are rule and inconsiderate for the safety of others. IMHO....they are plain useless, just adding more unnecessary weight to the Jeep.

I have a new double set here that claims 172 Db. I know that is loud anyway you want to look at it. I have a 3 horn set that came off a diesel locomotive. I am curious about it. Heavy and dont know if my air tank will operate it.

in the last thread about this subject i told of an impounded truck... sure do wish i could copy and past the link to the PD officers report. it was very costly for the gentleman to get his vehicle back, see it was taken on a early saturday morning. monday was a holiday, tuesday the ford dealer could not spare a mechanic to remove the horn in question. cost him well over 2k in impound fees the tow the storage and now he has to go to court to boot. all for a little "fun"

i wish you all the best of luck ........... with your local PD/ sheriff department.
