Trektop NX small problem

I absolutely LOVE my Trektop and all the options it gives me for what to leave on and what to take off. Had it a little over a year now and there are NO leakage issues and everything is a snap to put on or take off and fit as snug as when I first put it on. However, I have found one issue and I wonder if it is something I am doing or something others have found.

When I'm just using the top as a sun-runner, and have everything else off, going down the highway from 55 to 80 the brace bar in the very back on the roll bars will eventually slide itself to one side or the other and then the whole thing drops in the back and starts flapping. I have to pull over, reset the bar and retighten the back straps and start driving again. Doesn't happen all the time, but often enough that it is getting to be a pain, and the kids don't like getting slapped by the top in the back seat when it happens. I pull those straps as tight as I can to the point just before I feel they might tear off, alternating from side to side as I tighten, so it's sung.

Anyone else have this happen or come up with a fix? I run the retention straps to the back of the tub, straight down, but have seen some others run them to the corners. Reason (like is that really how it's supposed to be rather than straight down)?

I just installed mine today. I was wondering about this as well as I thought it could be an issue and apparently it is.

I too would like to know if anyone has a suggestion for this problem. On the way back to the office from a meeting today, I noticed the support bar had slid out of the passenger's side about 18 inches. I could only imagine what this would do to a vehicle behind me if it had came out entirely.

I have heard of people going to Home Depot to get a steel pipe that is long enough to fit in the pocket and getting it threaded on both sides. They put some caps on the end of it and they never have the problem again.

I tore the upper window channel out of the top the first day of installing my top and had to screw some new straps into the bar that the top came with. It solved my problem and it has not come apart yet.

My suggestion:
Get some epoxy (or similar) and spread that on the top of the sleeve that the bar goes into to stiffen the fabric up (only needs a pea size). After that dries, get some small black self tapping screws and put at least two in each side of the bar through the fabric and bar. This should solve the problem.
Something like this:

Kota7X - Thank you. That idea is easy and perfect. Will pick up screws today and get it fixed. The kids thank you also
