trucks coming my way

Hey there-I am new to this sight and am sure you all have talked about this before but I have one question about my jeep. When a truck is going the other way on the road-I get a real scary shake of the hood. I am waiting for the hood to come up and hit my windshield. I usually prepare when I see a truck coming and point the wheel to the right-it works. Is this normal for all jeeps? Do you all have suggestions?

When I am on the hiway, if there is a strong head wind, it looks like the hood is going to pop open. It's the rubber hood latches stretching. The safety latch keeps it from going any further.

This is normal, but it bugs a ton of people. You can buy after-market metal hood latches that will fix this problem.

I don't have them, but maybe someone that does can post you a link.

Daystar makes a tuff rubber one or is it Urethane (?)....replacement. Available from Quadratec.
There are also metal ones with Heim ends and lock pins . And there are other metal ones Billet Aluminum, and Stainless Steel ones and I think there is also some made to resemble the original Jeep Hood latches too.
Check Out Quadratec, if you like em , PM Joe at QUADRATEC and give him your info and he will set you up with free shipping.... Good Luck "BH"
Quadratec is listed in the Venders list on the top of the page and there is also ads on the Forum....

Just get some 11 inch, black zipties. Run a ziptie around the rubber stretch piece on your factory latch. Tighten it down just enough to limit how much it will stretch. Stops hood flutter and costs almost nothing. Some say it looks hillbilly, but but it is not noticeable unless you go looking for it. I tried the Daystar aftermarket hood latches, and did not like them. They pulled my hood down so tight they distorted the hood/body line.
