U-joint Snap Rings

Mine are horribly seized up. Would anyone recommend taking a torch to them? I've tried everything.

i assume your trying to replace the u joints in your driveshaft. i can't think of a reason not to burn them off if your replacing them and the u joint anyway.

You would be correct. I was more or less asking if anyone has been successful with a torch on these stubborn things.

Give this a whirl first.
Take a driver and smack the top of the U-joint cap to drive it down slightly. The snap ring should then be no problem removing.

Follow suit on each cap as you go.

The caps tend to push out against the snap rings, pinning them in place. Giving them a little pop gives some clearance between the snap ring and cap.

Thanks, but I already got them out. Apparently the factory snap rings were welded in there with some kind of plastic.
