The wave is far from mandatory and is purely for enjoyable purposes...with that said I try to be outgoing and social as often as possible. In SE WI flashing or beeping just might bet ya shot. The wave is even suspect at certain times. Such a shame folks have lost the art of pleasentries.

I currently have a stock jeep and I wave to all wranglers, not other jeeps unless they wave to me.

The only "mod" I have is black headlight bezels.

I try to save myself the frustration of not getting the return wave by making eye contact first, or at least trying to tell if they are looking my way. If he/she seems oblivious to me, I don't bother.

No offense but if it's a female they hardly ever throw it out to me. Maybe they think im trying to get in there pants I dunno.

I wave as often as possible...love to see the smile of someone that is "informed". We have probably 8 jeeps in our neighborhood. I especially wave at the neighbors even when I don't know them. We were sending our kids to prom in a limo when one of the ladies we know told my wife about her new Jeep wrangler. She told her to tell me about it and the friend said your husband already knows. He waves at me each time we pass. Her husband poked her in the ribs and said " Honey, that's the Jeep wave"

I wave in the snow, rain, at night, and across the highway too.

Plus I give the most people the benifit of the doubt, they may not know about the wave or they just didnt see me. If we start prejudging and not throwing up the wave then that just further lessen the wave... I mean it takes a certain type of person to own a wrangler. They aren't cheap, they aren't great on gas mileage, and they aren't the most luxuriest thing out there so not just anyone is going to own one. You have to really want one to own one. its not a kia, lol.

Trish, that's the "good ole boy" wave. You gotta actually wave in the jeep version.

The coolest thing that I find about the wave is that it is just natural. Since my dad and I did a frame up on a CJ when I was 10 I have had it in me. When I first got my 98 I didn't even realize that I was waving. A friend who was riding with me was like why do you keep waving to people. And I replied "it's just a Jeep thing" and he totally doesn't understand!!!! The "good ole' boy" wave is like the wave you give and recieve because both owners are being sooo cool, all they can do is lift a couple fingers. As long as it isn't just the middle one!!

What a dweeb! Real Jeep owners go topless!
When my father asked my 6 year old "Jacob, why aren't there doors or a roof on Daddy's Jeep" He said "doors and roofs are for sissies!"

I missed waving to my kid one day and I got hell for it, now I go out of my way to drive by him and act like lunatic mom. He also schooled me one day when we were in my jeep that my wave was too subtle. LOL!!!

Friend said she had a jeep, her boss drove it one day, he was flippin everyone off who waved, then she told him after the fact. He felt like an idiot.

Revving the engine means a challenge here too.
