Valvoline Max Life

When did Valvoline Max Life switch to "synthetic blend" as the only option for their "Max Life" line?

I used to use the dino fluid variety, but since its been a few months since my last oil change, ive found only the synthetic blend. i even went to 3 different part stores.

whats up with that?

im not knocking on synthetics, or synthetic blends, but just curious as to what happened to a (in my opinion) great product ! ??

ive used this in my toyota truck (almost 200,000 miles) for the last 5 years, and in my jeep (90,000 miles) for the last year.

ive ran a few different oils thru em both, and i seem to be fond of Valvoline max life.

guess i have no choice but to try this new synthetic blend max life, and see what happens.
(i already bought a bunch because i had a coupon! haha)

sorry for the long rant !

haha, i'm with ya. i work in a valvoline shop. the product did not change, they simply call it a synthetic blend to make it more appealing, cuz all along technically it had synthetic additives.

keep using it w/ no worries, i do. its good stuff

the product is the same?? well thats all i wanted to hear! they can call it "ass in a bottle" for all i care, but as long as the actual product is the same, im all good! haha sorry but im partial to it.

jpdocdave: im thinking you might agree with me... (but hurry before jerry reads this) but i also throw in a quart of lucas oil in with my oil change on both my vehicles)

pros or cons ??

i have never yielded a bad experience from this process. but i have also never taken apart my engine to see the before and afters of an oil change between changing oils. (sorry jerry)

haha, i used it on some old hi mileage engines, and it helped oil consumption. never had a bad result. and i was even able to "ween" it off the lucas.

i have no problems with it, and i am absolutely no fan of any gimick in a bottle, as most are in my opinion. i'm not sure if i'd do it every oil change, unless the motor just keeps using oil. what i did, is once i stopped having to add oil between changes, i skipped it and added it every other oil change, and eventually didn't add it, and didn't have to add oil. my instance was a combo of couple small oil leaks, and lack of maintenance from previous owner. was using a quart a month, and after some routine maintenance, lucas, and valve cover gasket, less than two years it was half a quart at 3k, good enough for anyone.

I use Castrol. Switch to Castrol High Mileage, It's better than Valvoline.
