Very strong gas smell

Ok so as of today there is a very strong, potent smell of gasoline. I checked around the gas tank, fuel lines, and around the carb and don't see anything. I filled my tank up last night but it's never done this before.

Any ideas? Btw I have a YJ, inline carb'd 6cyl

Once I filled (overfilled) my tank and gas leaked out of the gas tank vent maybe this happened to you. Check near the passenger side rear bumper is it wet?

I had a similar problem. My filler neck hose had come loose. Check that

you also could have a leak near the header and front pipe for your exhaust. If there is a rusted hole a rich running engine would smell of gasoline and a little exhaust.

Is the smell when its running, or not? That could narrow it down a bit. If when running the float may be stuck in the carb. If not it has to be some type of leak.

It's a legitimate, raw gasoline smell, not just a "carb'd and no Cat" smell. And it's only when it's running. I looked and the filler neck and it's all tight and solid. Lmao and it's not from coming from a restaurant
