In May (yep, 7 months ago), I ordered a smittybilt glove box from my local 4 wheel parts store.
As time went on, I would occasionally call 4 wheel parts and they kept telling me it was on "national back order".
Finally in the August/September time frame, I was told the product had not been developed yet and was still in R&D, but would be available in October.
October came and went and no glove box. November came and again, 4 wheel parts told me it was on "national back order".
November is behind us and now we are crusing through December and still no glove box. I called 4 wheel parts on this past tuesday, they told me they would contact the vendor and give me an ETA and call me back. No call back wednesday, no call back thursday so I called 4 wheel parts. I was told that the product is not available yet.
Having had enough (I'd consider myself extremely patient up to this point after having waited 7 months for a product I've already paid for without ever receiving the product), I got a phone number from the folks at 4 wheel parts for smittybilt.
I called smittybilt, who told me that the product was completed in october, but the president of smittybilt didn't like it so it was sent back to R&D for refinements.
Great for the president of smittybilt being a hands on kind of person, but what about customer who already paid and were expecting delivery of product?
The smittybilt rep asssured that I'd have the product in my hands before Christmas. After telling him it was silly to be taking orders (and people's money) for a product that was not even out of R&D yet, his response was something along the lines of ... if you want a refund and 4 wheel parts is giving you a hard time, call us back and we'll help you get your money back...
Seriously?! That's IT?! Come on! What a TERRIBLE way to run a business!
At the very least smittybilt and 4wheel parts should be telling customers the product they are ordering (at the time they are ordering it) IS NOT DEVELOPED yet!! Not months after they have taken payment.
I learned NEVER to order anything from 4 wheel parts without asking if the product is designed yet.
This may very well be the last time I buy a smittybilt product.
Honestly the Smittybuilt guy sounds relatively reasonable. Still ridiculous though that they have a product listed on their website that isn't available. At least should be labeled that it's a pre-order.

4 wheel parts Sucks. I'll never shop at 4 wheel Parts again for this exact same reason.
Only vendor I know that sells stuff they don't stock or have any idea whatsoever when it will be in stock or if it's even available.
After 3 months of getting the runaround I cancelled my exhaust order and had a local guy make one in 2 hours for less money.
Anything for my JK comes from Northridge 4x4 period. The owner David is awsome and all the staff drive Jeeps, wheel Jeeps, work on Jeeps and know what the hell they're selling and won't sell it if its out of stock or poor quality.
I finally got shipping info on mine ordered two months ago. So it will be here Monday and then the install. So far I have had good luck with Smittybilt bumpers but tha hardware was a iix of SAE and metric and the instructions sucked. So i got pissed rewroote the instructions w/pics and bought the hardware I needed and sent thema nasty letter. Told them Chinese guy has no idea what he's packageing and they were very nice. Sent me a money porder for my hardware bill and then sweetened the post with ofdds and ends in a box for all my work on the instructions. So a couple grab handles, coffee cup and hat and my hardware money. So it wasn't all bad but they should know better.
Some of the Smittybuilt stuff is good value for the money, but like all vendors not all of their stuff is great. As far as 4wheelParts my experience has been good. The manager of the local store here has been very helpful and held the price for me on my Warn after the price went up.
Sometimes patience is not a good thing. If something doesn't ship within a couple of weeks I cancel. I don't care what their problems are- I don't want them becoming my problems. JAT

This is the best thing that could have possibly happened to you. Now, you have the opportunity for a refund for the shitty, low quality, Chinese-made parts you just purchased.
This whole issue is the best Xmas present you could have possibly wished for. Now, you have the opportunity to make it right, and go buy a quality, American-made product with your hard-earned money that will last you.
