Warn Rocks!

I have a 1979 Warn 8274 that has seen better days. It was locked up and weathered, cable was shot. Remote lost etc.... I have been reading up on several forums about guys rebuilding these and decided to get going on it. Luckily for me Warn manufacturing is only about 10 minutes from my house, so i drove down with winch in hand to inquire as to what all i needed for the build. When I got there I was greeted by the warn service Tech Mike Warrilow, Nicest guy ever. (If you had warn rebuild your winch it was probably Mike that did it) He told me they didnt sell parts there but he would be happy to rebuild it for me. He quoted me a extremely reasonable price to have it rebuilt. I stated that I needed the remote and cable and he replied "you will be happy when you pick it up". With that, I said thanks and headed out.
5 days later it was ready to be picked up. I went back and was blown away by the transformation. It looks like a new winch, well essentially it is...new motor, solenoids, cable, remote and Mike polished up the original casing to almost new condition and it cost me less than what the parts cost. I cant say enough good things about Mike, Warn and this whole experience. In the game of jeeps It is nice to have companies that back up their products.

I wish I would have taken a picture of this when it looked like a boat anchor...anyway here is what it looks like after Mike worked his magic.

This is why I'm saving up for a Warn winch. Any company that will back it's products like this will get my business.

That thing doesn't even begin to look like it's 33 years old!
