Warn winch comparison

So I'm about to pull the trigger on a winch. Definitely going with a Warn. It's a toss up between the VR8000 and M8000.

I've read plenty of threads stating the differences between the two (motor, gears, solenoid/contactor, finish, remote, some overseas parts on the VR). Also heard that the line speed is faster on the M8000. However, on Warns website, the line speeds are identical between the two. Amp draw is pretty close as well. Unless I'm missing something or Warn mis-printed the specs, they have the same performance.

With the current rebate, the price difference is only about $80. I like the tried and true reputation of the M8000, but I am not a heavy winch user. The VR has pretty good reviews and I trust Warn wouldn't sell something that would let me down.

Any thoughts from people with experiences with either winch? I emailed Warn to ask about the specs and for their recommendation as well.

Still waiting to hear back from Warn to see what they say about the spec sheets on their site.
