Warranty "Deductible"?!?!? WTF?!?

i took my jeep to the dealer b/c the tranny was leaking like a sieve and it's still under warranty. i called to schedule the appointment and they told me that the 7/70 has a $100 deductible. WTF is that all about? has this "deductible" always been there? when i asked why he said the b to b warranty has no deductible but the 7/70 does. that sucks. i work in a small engine repair shop. if some one buys a lawn tractor, chainsaw, or plate compactor and they have a warranty claim there is no f-ing "deductible." is this new? i'm a little miffed.

If you know an attorney, ask him to decipher your warranty agreement. Chances are it's written in there somewhere surrounded by a bunch of "theretofores" and other $65 words. Most dealerships suck and so do the big auto companies - plain and simple - from the day you make the purchase right on through to the day you get ripped on the trade for some new overpriced vehicle.

My wife's 2000 Neon needed an oil pan. Dealership wants like $240 for it.
I found about 5 places on line that sell the same pan for between $50 and $70! I'm no math genius, but I think that's like a 400% mark up!

And these jackasses want us to bail them out!!

tell me about it. the hubby could have fixed it but i figured it would be covered under warranty, not knowing that the warranty was going to cost me $100. if we were to have taken it home and fix ourselves the stealership was going to charge us a $45 dollar estimate fee. either way it was going to cost me. i opted to have them do it b/c for $100 bucks they change the gasket fluid and filter and the tech noticed that the diff gasket was leaking so they are going to cover that too. it's not a bad deal for $100, but considering it's "warranty" i am pissed.

it is pretty common for warranties to have deductibles on cars. manufacturer warranties aren't as common, but i think there was all that junk where you choose the warranty or whatever, and they confused everyone with that. aftermarket warranties can be good, or suck. really good warranties can be bought with no deductible, but it costs more up front.
