Washing the soft top?

Purchased a 2010 Wrangler Mountain Package and wish to wash it for the first time after our first trip.

Anything I need to do (or not do) to protect the soft top?

Wash it by hand, no strong chemicals, especially the windows, and no stiff bristled brushes. No brushes at all on the windows. Soft damp cloth is best for windows.

Thanks - as always - by hand seems to be best.

So you would not recommend using a touch-free, automated car wash?

I've used simple green spray at half strength and it works like a charm. Top looks brand new afterwards.

I have used simple green and if the dirt is fresh, it cleans okay, but stains from Alabama dirt aren't so easy if they set. I took my tops off and power washed em while they were on the ground. Scrubbed, then power washed again. Nice and black again!

Correct. The chemicals/detergents can damage your windows. Bestop makes a soft top protectant, and window and top cleaners.

Soap and water with soft washing glove or rag. I never use anything but a good old fashion diaper on the windows and paint for the drying process.
