Water Methanol

s some of you know im doin a 4.5 stroker swap/build for my yj. I was reading this months JP and saw an add for water meth injection to elimate pinging and increase horseower ultimately letting run a higher comp ratio. Could i do this and not raise my comp ratio. And what are your opinions on this?

does it inject into the intake or Air Box? to cool down the temps running into the motor? I know its really popular way to keep EGT's down and make HP in a Diesel Motor. Water Meth = "Drugs"

It's talking about Methanol, not meth-amphetamine, and I think it's just a diesel thing.

i've heard of water spray on a gasser. some people rig their windshield washer pump to spray. its sposed to cool the piston top but also boost compression (water doesnt compress). i was under the impression it was more oa racer/WOT kind of thing, but i have only read about it.

I knew a guy with a 5.0 with heads, cam, intake, all kinda of crap, and around 9 pounds of boost from a supercharger, and he used it and liked it. He also said it gave him a bit more boost; maybe it was 8, but 9 with the methanol. I can't quite remember. From the sounds of it, its for applications with boost pressure or maybe real high compression?

This is the brand of system he had. They're saying on the website its like chemical intercooling. Sounds alright, I guess..

Here is just one source, from Google; http://www.painlessperformance.com/w...FSLNIgod4Vm9Ig

I always like to go to the source, to ask all the juicy questions...........

Sounds pretty impressive, after reading their hype. But that is how they sell stuff. That ought to complicate the finances, and the mechanical time, under the hood.

i was under the impression this would only help with a forced induction engine. are you planning a super charger or turbo charger?

not right away was i planning a turbo but i was thinkin bout it. the way the ad sounded it seemed like i could put it in without a high compression ratio or turbo and get more power out of it my buddy is doin it on his diesel and i know its more popular in that field i was just wondering how it would work out in a gasser...

this is a popular thing with the supercharged grand prix's. check out www.clubgp.com

They might be able to help you with the mechanics of this, even though its a pontiac, since they are really into it.
