I do not know if you are going to want to wheel your Jeep, but if you are, I would highly suggest going with the Howell fuel injection for your 4.2L engine. It is more expensive than a carburetor, but so much more efficient, and reliable. If you are going to do any wheeling, it is the difference between night, and day. Carburetors are horrible off road. One of the guys in our Jeep Club did that, and he loves it.

The Howell fuel injection is worth every penny. I live where we actually have winter, unlike you Texas guys, and my junk fires right up in the coldest of weather. As far as fuel economy, Don't waste you brain cells trying to improve that. You are driving a box, not much you can do to change that.
