I think the suggestion above for the alarm system is right on. If you have a Wrangler you should (read MUST) have an alarm system. Whether you want it to sound off immediately or page you, alarms are a must.

QUOTE=Triple88a;237039]would you steal a car if the law says you will have your arm cut off, punished and tortured for couple years and then sent to jail for a "cool down"? Big stuff is harder to steal. But i gues if its "big stuff" then i'd go with an even harder punishment. Simply what i'm saying is the current punishments are nothing. Increase them and make them much, muuch harsher.[/QUOTE]
being a cop, I would agree in full!

...but unlike the first time she was broken into, I made sure that I kept nothing of value in it this time. Satellite radio and stereo faceplate go inside with me every night. All they managed to get was a handfull of loose change - have fun spending that douchebags
What pisses me off though is they broke my center console lid. I even left it unlocked for that very reason!
I suspect it was a bunch of kids on spring break with too much time on their hands who did this, maybe even the same ones who broke into it the first time. I usually don't lock my doors because I don't want any would-be thief to cut my windows to get in but now I'm considering locking them to keep the amateurs looking for a quick score out.
I dunno the point of this thread, just ranting I guess. I live in an apartment complex that is safe as can be but all it takes is a few knuckleheads with no respect for property to ruin your day.
Now I guess I'll use the money I was saving for lower half doors and spend it on a tuffy center console.
Thanks for listening.
I would be questioning the safe complex theory you have. Spend the extra $$, if you can, to have a garage. I hate thieves!!! I think we should cut the hands off thieves and see how crime goes down!!! Sorry to hear about your misfortunes!
Instead of a gun holster, which they'd probably take too, just put some spent 45 casings on the floor in a haphazard way or a few in a coin tray. Nothing obvious, just something you know they'll see when they get in or look in your Jeep.
A spent casing (DO NOT LEAVE UNUSED ROUNDS IN THERE!) send a signal that you DO have a gun and that DO use it on occasion.
I have a soft top/half doors as well. One thing I noticed is that when I have my full cover on it from Jeepcovers.com, people tend to leave it alone. Takes effort to get in/around out besides the usual slash and grab. Something to consider...
Now that my daughter has moved out, the Jeep gets the garage spot. My newer Avalanche still sits outside (too big and too much of a PITA to fit it in the garage - unless hail is coming).
I can't wait to get my jeep, but the security thing is one of my biggest fears, that sucks man, sorry to hear it's happened to you twice now!
I guess the tuffy center consoles aren't a bad idea after all.
Security issues were the first thing addressed when I bought TJ 4 years ago.
1)Tuffy hood locks(that way they can't cut the alarm speaker wires, steel other chit as well.
2)Tuffy center consule vault
3)A good alarm system(one that has the no start option when armed
4) wheel locks
P.S. make sure your get bright red alarm light mounted on top of dash.
